Broke Girls Guide to Healthy Smoothies on a Budget


Sure you want to continue with your resolution to eat healthy, but what happens when you are on a budget, Lazy and a picky eater? I hardly wake up in time to get to work in the morning, the last thing I want to do is make a healthy breakfast, even though I know that is the best way to start your day and keep you on track to eating right. This smoothie is stupid easy to make, takes about 3 minutes to prep at night, so all you have to do is dump everything in the blender in the morning, and get on with your day. The best part is it’s less than $2 a serving!


  • 1 cup of frozen mixed berries (I get mine for $3.99 at Target.) Frozen berries replace the need for ice and make for a smoother texture
  • 1 whole banana
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1 1/2 Cup of cold water
  • 1 Tbsp fresh ginger


  1. Mince ginger, and chop spinach
  2. Blend water, greens, and ginger until there are no chunks (about 30 seconds)
  3. Add berries and banana to the green liquid; blend until smooth.
